Vodafone and 3 Mobile (Telecommunication Companies)

Comment:

When 3 merged with Vodafone, the BILLS seems to go very WRONG !! Most of the time, it goes too high, then goes too low, then high up again ?! They say its the 'adjustment' to new fees, and services problem... CAN'T they get it right the first time?! Anyway I hate 3 and now Vodafone, its like the same disease but with different name. Where is the so-called 'Corporate Social Responsibility' that the Australian government advocate ?!

Vodafone may face customer class action
On Monday 27 December 2010, 12:49

The telecommunications company Vodafone could be sued by thousands of its customers in a class action over reception issues, drop-outs and poor data performance. Vodafone customers have been using the grassroots website, vodafail.com - set up two weeks ago by a disgruntled customer - to vent their frustration about service.

Adam Brimo set up the site and says it has had more than 1,000 complaints since going live. He believes a class action will attract a lot of customers. "I'd be surprised if it was less than the number of complaints we've had so far," he said.

Lawfirm Piper Alderman says it is investigating a class action against the company to recover losses suffered by its customers over the past three years.

The lawfirm says "customers who signed up with Vodafone over the last three years may be entitled to compensation if they were misled into signing contracts or if Vodafone didn't live up to its end of the bargain".

Meanwhile, the ACCC has issued a statement saying it is aware of reports that some of Vodafone's customers have been experiencing problems, including call failures and slow data speeds. But it says consumers should not break their contracts as a means of addressing their concerns.

Kevin was Tasered 41 Times !!

http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/breaking/8483554/spratt-tasered-up-to-41-times/ (10 December 2010)

Kevin Spratt was tasered up to 41 times in a week and went to hospital with fractures, a collapsed lung and a dislocated shoulder after being taken out of his cell by a special ‘cell extraction’ team, a Corruption and Crime Commission inquiry has been told.

Mr Spratt’s fiancée broke down in tears today as the CCC was shown confronting footage of him being repeatedly tasered by prison officers in riot gear. The tasering of Mr Spratt by WA Police and specialist DCS emergency support group officers during his arrest, detention and investigation is the subject of the public hearings.

The vision of specialist Department of Corrective Services emergency support group officers removing Mr Spratt from his Perth Watch House cell on September 6, 2008 to take him to Casuarina Prison was shown publicly for the first time.

The vision had been kept secret by Corrective Services Minister Christian Porter, who refused to release it on the grounds that officers could be endangered by having ESG tactics revealed and available for prisoners to watch on television.

The vision shows ESG officers repeatedly ordering Mr Spratt to lie down on the ground or face tasering. With officers in riot gear lined up outside his cell, one officer warns Mr Spratt: “Lay down or I’ll Taser you.”

The order is given several times before the crack of a Taser is heard and the officers move into the cell and drag Mr Spratt into a narrow corridor outside his cell. Tasers are used on him 11 times, including nine when the weapon was activated in drive stun mode while held in the small of his back. Seven prison officers take part in the operation.

Mr Spratt is heard to be exhibiting bizarre behaviour including what appears to be singing and praying. Mr Spratt, who read a statement outside the CCC with fiancée Tayunna Schatkowski in tears at his side, welcomed the release of the vision.

“As a result of that incident I was hospitalised with broken ribs, a punctured lung and a dislocated shoulder,” he said.

John Howard, Australia and Racism

Indian TV opens fire on 'closet racist' Howard
Sally Sara, ABC July 2, 2010, 6:50 am

John Howard's refusal to step down as nominee for the vice-presidency of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has drawn a furious response from sections of the Indian media. One Indian TV news channel has labelled Mr Howard a closet racist and a "museum piece".

Mr Howard's nomination was rejected without any official explanation by several ICC nations including India, Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh. His attempt to become the vice-president of the ICC has drawn strong criticism from some sections of the Indian media.
(Note: Good, that shows that the world is not blind on racism issues in Australia, that does not even include Asia countries, I am sure the disatisfaction will be overwhelmed!).

The top rating news channel Times Now has accused Mr Howard of being racist and out of touch. "Why should a museum piece, a symbol of the black-white divide, dare or dream of entering world cricket," Times Now presenter Arnab Goswami said. "By doing so, we seem to have upset other closet racists."

Mr Howard's past views on apartheid and immigration have been dragged up in the debate. Goswami says history has caught up with the former Australian prime minister. "As for Mr John Howard, it is just too bad, Mr Howard. That's the way the cookie crumbles," he said. Indian columnist Suhel Seth says racism does not end with the former prime minister. "Australia is a racist country. There is nothing secular or non-racial about them," he said.

Seth believes England, Australia and New Zealand have not come to terms with India's rise as a world power in the business of cricket. But he concedes some Indian officials have not handled it well either....
While Mr Howard's nomination for the ICC has failed for now, Indian government minister Sharad Pawar is settling in as the new ICC president. He denies politics played any part in Mr Howard's rejection. "What is the political connotation, there's no question of a political connotation," he said. But there is still no official explanation as to why the ICC refused to back John Howard.

Newborn Baby Boy Abandoned !

Comment:

I thought this kind of thing, abandoning baby only happens in Third world countries, and Muslim countries, where the mother, possibly delivered the baby through unlawful fornication with her partner, thus abandoning the new born to avoid disgrace from society. It seems like Australia is no exception.

Police are concerned about the welfare of the mother of a newborn baby boy abandoned on the doorstep of a house on the NSW south coast. "We're obviously very concerned for the mum at the moment and we want to find her as quickly as possible," Lake Illawarra Inspector Steve Johnson said on Wednesday.

The infant was discovered on a veranda after somebody knocked on the door of a home in Koona Street, Albion Park Rail, south of Wollongong, and ran away about 5am (AEDT) on Thursday. Asked if it was believed she was a local woman or may have since turned herself in to a hospital Inspector Johnson told AAP: "We're keeping everything open at the moment".

Inspector Johnson wouldn't speculate on the reasons the baby was abandoned but urged the mother to contact police. The baby was taken to hospital where he is said to be in a healthy condition.

He is described as being of white, European appearance with a small amount of light-coloured hair. He was wrapped in a bunny blanket and wearing a red singlet.

Anyone with information about the mother or baby is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333000.

Wacko Techers in Queensland and more

Comment: What the hell is going on here? Too much law and less enforcement? Or a need to review (reform) the Australian Education system?? (Primary and Secondary education system)??

'Hundreds of Qld teachers investigated'
AAP March 24, 2010, 5:54 am

Hundreds of Queensland teachers are reportedly under investigation for inappropriate behaviour in schools, including sexual misconduct. Twenty-six teachers had their registrations suspended or cancelled in the past year, according to documents obtained by The Courier-Mail newspaper under Right to Information laws.

Almost all of these teachers were cited for sexual misconduct, including one pre-school teacher - previously investigated for molesting young children - who got his students to strip naked and paint each other while he took photos.

Another teacher had a threesome with students in the back seat of his car after taking them to a Gay Pride march, the paper said.

In another case, a teacher cartwheeled naked in front of 12 year-old students on a school camp and entered their tents dressed in women's underwear. He was eventually convicted of raping a 13-year-old girl at a Brisbane private school, the newspaper said.

As of December last year, the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) figures showed 679 investigations since 2006 had been finalised. Of those, 53 were disciplined by the college. Another 356 are still open, of which 15 are being investigated by QCT and the other 341 by outside authorities.

Teen, man wounded in Melbourne shooting
AAP February 25, 2010, 7:30 am

Three men have been arrested following the shooting of a teenage girl on Wednesday night.
A 16-year-old girl was at the house of a 24-year-old male friend in Morwell Street, Dallas, in Melbourne's north-west along with three other men.

Police have established that at around 11.20pm (AEDT) one of the men produced a handgun at the house and fired, wounding the girl in the thigh. The same bullet then struck the 24-year-old man in the ankle.

The gunman fled, sparking a police search.

The injured girl was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with a wound to the thigh, while the injured man had his ankle bandaged but he refused further treatment.

About three hours after the incident three men were arrested in Parkville. Two teenagers believed to be 18, and a third man, 28, will be questioned by police.
